Agadir Airport (AGA) → Marrakech
Agadir–Al Massira is the busiest airport in the south - 2.3 million passengers in 2023 - and it sits 20 km southeast of Agadir itself, out towards the Souss plain. Marrakech is about 240 km north on the N8 and the A7 motorway, roughly three hours. €130 per vehicle, fixed at booking. There is no railway on this route, so the honest comparison is car against coach and nothing else.

AGA to Marrakech: the three real options
Al Massira is a proper international airport - a single large terminal split between domestic and international arrivals, a 3,200-metre runway, and charter traffic from most of northern Europe. That size cuts both ways. There are always taxis, and there is always a queue for them, and a charter that lands at midnight empties three hundred people into a hall where the transport desks have closed. Getting out of AGA is never impossible; it is just rarely as quick as you assumed on the plane.
| Option | Price | Door-to-door | Honest verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taxi to Agadir, then CTM or Supratours | The taxi fare, then roughly 130–150 MAD for the coach | 5 h to 5 h 30 including the transfer and the wait | Genuinely cheap and genuinely long. Departures run through the day from the town, so this works if you land in the morning and not if you land at night. |
| Grand taxi from the rank | Negotiated, and higher after dark | About 3 h once you are moving | Available, but this is a 240 km run and the fare is a conversation, not a tariff. You have it after you have landed, with your bags at your feet. |
| Private transfer, pre-booked | €130 per vehicle, fixed at booking | About 3 h, driver waiting with your name | €32 each for four, which is close to the coach fare once you add the taxi into town. The price is agreed before you fly and the flight is tracked. |
The route itself is the easiest of the three southern airport runs: N8 out of the Souss, then the A7 motorway, tolled and fast, most of the way to Marrakech. Nothing about the road is difficult. What decides this journey is the hour you land - and Agadir's charter schedule puts a great many arrivals well after the coaches have stopped.
Being honest about the coach
For two people landing at eleven in the morning with cabin bags, the coach is the better deal and we will tell you so. Take a taxi into Agadir, buy a CTM or Supratours seat, and spend the difference in Marrakech. The maths flips with the fourth passenger and with the clock. At four people the private car works out at about €32 each - roughly what the coach costs once the taxi into town is counted - and it leaves when you land rather than when the timetable says.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a train from Agadir airport to Marrakech?
No. Morocco's rail network stops at Marrakech; Agadir has no station at all. Anyone offering you a train on this route is selling a coach.
How long is the drive from Agadir airport to Marrakech?
About three hours for roughly 240 km, using the N8 and then the A7 motorway. A coach takes four and a half to five hours, and that is before you count getting from the airport into Agadir to board it.
How far is Al Massira airport from Agadir city?
20 km southeast, about twenty-five minutes. It is not a walk-out-and-you-are-there airport, which is why the coach route costs you a transfer before it starts.
Is a private transfer worth it for two people?
Often not, and we would rather say so. For two travelling in daylight the coach is better value. For four, for anyone landing after the coaches stop, and for anyone with a Marrakech flight to catch, the car wins on both time and stress.
Do you meet late-night charter flights?
Yes. A large share of AGA's traffic lands late, and those are precisely the arrivals we are useful for. The driver is inside the terminal with your name when you clear customs.
Can you take us to Essaouira or the Sahara instead?
Yes - Essaouira, Taghazout, Marrakech Menara for a connection, or straight to Ouarzazate for the desert road. Ask on WhatsApp and we quote a fixed price per vehicle.
