Why ESU is not the same problem as a city airport
Essaouira-Mogador is small and seasonal, and that shapes everything about leaving it. One runway, one terminal, and a route map that is mostly low-cost carriers landing a few times a week: Ryanair from Stansted, Madrid, Marseille, Charleroi, Beauvais and Weeze, Transavia from Paris-Orly, Vueling from Barcelona and Seville in season, Air Arabia from Rabat. Flights arrive in clusters and then the building goes quiet. When a Ryanair aircraft empties onto the forecourt, the taxis present are the taxis you are competing for - and unlike Marrakech, there is no queue of a hundred behind them.

The N8 to Marrakech is an easy road - flat, straight for long stretches, and nothing like the mountain crossing to Ouarzazate. What makes it worth planning is the other end: Essaouira's airport has no left luggage, no onward transport desk, and a café that keeps the terminal's hours. If your connection does not work, there is nowhere useful to wait.
When the coach is the better answer
If you land mid-morning, you are one or two people with hand luggage, and you were going to spend a day in Essaouira anyway, take a taxi into town, walk the ramparts, and get an afternoon coach to Marrakech. You will spend a third of €95 and see more of the country. The private car is for the arrivals where that plan collapses: an evening landing, four people with boards or bags, a morning flight out of Marrakech the next day, or a connection you cannot afford to miss.

About 190 km. The airport is 16 km southeast of Essaouira, and Essaouira is 185 km from Marrakech on the N8, so the airport run is a little longer than the city-to-city one. Allow two hours forty-five.
Is there a bus from Essaouira airport to Marrakech?
Not from the terminal. Supratours and CTM both run Essaouira–Marrakech coaches, but they leave from the town, so you would need to get into Essaouira first.
Is the airport far from Essaouira town?
16 km, about twenty minutes. It is far enough that walking is not an option and near enough that a taxi is cheap - but it is a real journey, not a hop across a car park.
Can we stop on the way to Marrakech?
Yes. The N8 passes the argan cooperatives and the tree-climbing goats that people photograph; a stop costs nothing on a private transfer. Tell the driver rather than assuming.
What happens if the flight lands late?
The driver waits, at no charge. ESU has few movements a day, so a late arrival is easy for us to see coming.
