Casablanca Airport to Marrakech

Casablanca Airport (CMN) → Marrakech

A private car from Casablanca Mohammed V Airport to Marrakech costs €120 per vehicle, not per person, and takes about 3 hours to cover the 220 km on the A7 motorway. The price is fixed when you book, there is no deposit, and your driver tracks the flight. If you would rather take the train, we explain that honestly below - there is no direct service.

Why people make this trip

Casablanca Mohammed V is Morocco's biggest airport and the main long-haul entry point, but for a lot of arriving passengers the real destination is Marrakech. Direct long-haul flights land at CMN, seasonal charters land at Marrakech, and the two do not always line up with the holiday you booked.

So you land at CMN with your luggage and roughly 220 km still to go. There are three sensible ways to cover it, and the right one depends on your luggage, your arrival time and how many of you there are.

The honest comparison

We would rather you pick the right option than the expensive one. Here is what each actually involves.

The train, explained properly

There is no direct train from the airport to Marrakech. Anyone who tells you otherwise is guessing. The rail station sits inside Terminal 1 at arrivals level, and the Airport Express takes you to Casa Voyageurs station in about 30 to 45 minutes. There you change onto a Marrakech service, which runs roughly ten times a day and takes about 2 hours 40 minutes.

Counting the walk to the platform, buying two tickets and waiting for the connection, the realistic door-to-door time is 3 hours 15 minutes to 4 hours 30 minutes. The fare is modest - the airport leg is usually around 45 to 70 MAD and the Marrakech leg roughly 90 to 190 MAD depending on class. Tickets are sold at the station or through ONCF's own website and app.

The train is genuinely the better choice if you are travelling light, arriving in daylight, and comfortable changing stations in a country you may not know. It is the wrong choice with three suitcases, small children, a late arrival, or a riad address you cannot easily explain to a taxi driver at Marrakech station at midnight.

What the drive is actually like

The route runs south on the A7, a modern toll motorway the whole way. In normal conditions it is about 3 hours door to door, a little more if we pick you up during Casablanca's evening rush or if you want a stop.

Tolls and fuel are already in the price we quote - we do not add them at the end. We stop once on request, usually at the service area near Settat, which is roughly the halfway point.

Arriving late, or with a delayed flight

The last useful train connection leaves earlier than most long-haul flights land. If you arrive in the evening, a pre-booked car is not a luxury, it is the only option that does not involve a night in Casablanca.

We track your flight number. If you land two hours late, your driver waits and the price does not change. We operate 24 hours a day and charge no night surcharge.

Where we drop you in Marrakech

Anywhere in the city - a hotel in Gueliz or Hivernage, a villa in the Palmeraie, or the gate closest to your riad if you are staying inside the medina. No car can drive into the medina alleys, so tell us the riad name when you book and we take you to the right bab rather than leaving you at a guess.

Travelling the other way? We drive Marrakech to Casablanca as well, and the Casablanca airport guide covers terminals and arrivals in detail.

Where will my driver meet me at Casablanca airport?

In the arrivals hall after customs, holding a sign with your name. Their direct number is sent to you the day before, so you call a person rather than a switchboard.

What if my flight is delayed?

Nothing to do. We track the flight number and the pick-up moves to your actual landing time, at no extra cost.

How long does it take to clear the airport?

Allow 45 to 60 minutes from landing for an international arrival: passport control, baggage, then customs. We plan for that, so you are not paying for waiting time.

Is it cheaper to take the train to Marrakech?

Considerably, for one or two people: about 138 MAD in second class against €120 for a car. The car wins from three passengers, with luggage, late at night, or if you would rather not change trains at Casa Voyageurs after a long flight.

How long is the train from the airport to Marrakech?

About 3 h 15 in total: the Al Bidaoui shuttle to Casa Voyageurs, 35 to 45 minutes, then a Marrakech service of about 2 h 40.

Can we stop on the way to Marrakech?

Yes, one stop is included on request. After a long flight most passengers prefer to press on.

Do you have child seats?

Yes, free and fitted before you land. Give us the child's age and weight at booking.

Can I pay in euros?

Yes - cash in euros, dollars, pounds or dirhams, or by card. No deposit is taken at booking.

How many passengers and bags fit?

Up to 3 passengers and 3 large cases in a sedan, 5 and 5 in an SUV, 7 in a van, 15 in a minibus. On a 3-hour drive, tell us the real luggage volume.

Can you drop us somewhere other than Marrakech?

Yes. Essaouira, Agadir and Ouarzazate are all reachable from CMN - ask and we will quote the direct run rather than two legs.
