Marrakech → Casablanca

€140 per vehicle

Route details checked in July 2026 by Ahlam Giyat, travel editor at Taxi Maroc Aéroport.

A private car from Marrakech to Casablanca costs €140 per vehicle, not per person, and takes about 3 hours over the 240 km. This is the one intercity route in Morocco where the train is genuinely excellent — around 2h40, roughly ten departures a day, and cheap. We will tell you when to take it and when a car makes more sense, because sending you to the wrong one helps nobody.

Take the train — unless one of these applies

The ONCF service between Marrakech and Casa Voyageurs is fast, frequent, air-conditioned and costs between roughly 49 and 190 MAD depending on class. If you are one or two people travelling light between two city centres in daylight, take the train. We would rather say that than sell you a car you do not need.

A private car earns its price in five situations: you are three or more, so the per-head cost flips; you have real luggage; you are going to or from Mohammed V airport rather than the city; you are travelling late at night when the trains have stopped; or your address is not near either station and you would need two taxis anyway.

The comparison

Everything on the table, including the parts the train ticket does not cover.

The road

The A7 motorway runs the whole way, north through Ben Guerir and Settat to Casablanca. About 3 hours of easy driving in normal conditions, more if we hit Casablanca's evening rush, which is real and worth planning around. Tolls and fuel are in the price — nothing is added at the end.

We stop once on request, usually the service area near Settat at roughly the halfway point.

Going to the airport, not the city

If your destination is Mohammed V airport (CMN) rather than Casablanca itself, that is a different job and a different page: see Casablanca Airport ↔ Marrakech. The train does not run direct to the airport either — you would change at Casa Voyageurs, adding 30 to 45 minutes and a second ticket.

For an early flight out of CMN this matters. Missing a train connection with a boarding gate waiting is a different kind of stress from missing one on the way to a hotel.

Casablanca, briefly

It is Morocco's economic capital rather than a postcard city, and most of our passengers on this road are travelling for business, catching a long-haul flight, or visiting the Hassan II Mosque — one of very few mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslim visitors, and worth the trip on its own.
